Who is
Master Wiz?
A fixture of underground hip-hop out of Atlanta, Georgia, Master Wiz has been carving his own lane since the early 2000s. He first surfaced as half of the duo Distant Pham alongside Realz Reality, whose debut The Love became an underground favorite. From there he went solo, building a dedicated following across releases like The Hunger (2006) and the 2011 single Windows, which topped the Amped Sounds Magazine chart.
The craft is what sets him apart — dense, clever wordplay delivered in clean, unhurried flows, almost always over beats he builds himself. He's shared songs with respected names across the scene, from Realz Reality to Awich and Tek of Smif-N-Wessun, and his production swings from spitfire intensity to laid-back, late-night warmth.
After an 11-year hiatus, he returned in 2024 with World Away — a boom-bap concept album drawn from his love of sci-fi and comics, aliens, planets, and stars threaded through tracks like Planet Killer, Alien Eyes, and the lead single Rainy Days. Endustrie plays live guitar across the record, laying real instrumentation under Wiz's production and bars — and critics have placed the writing in the same conversation as the genre's heavyweights.

Master Wiz writes like a producer who's also been an emcee for two decades — dense, layered wordplay delivered in clean, unhurried flows, every line packed without ever feeling rushed. The concept discipline shows up plainest on World Away, where his love of sci-fi and comics — aliens, planets, the cold of deep space — runs through tracks like Planet Killer and Alien Eyes as more than scenery.
The range is the other half of it. He moves from spitfire intensity to laid-back, late-night warmth on the same record, and the writing follows the temperature. Twenty years deep, the voice is patient, lyrical, and built for headphones — the kind of craft critics keep putting in the conversation with the genre's heavyweights.
